Absolutely not! I play regularly in assisted living facilities, hotel lobbies, and upscale restaurants because I am able to play at a suitable volume for conversations to still be had. Also, I have the ability to switch to a softer instrument such as flute or muted trumpet.

Long Answer: Living in South Korea for almost 7 years and playing a wide variety of music I've never even heard once before, on the spot, throughout Asia has trained me to be able to play along to just about anything quickly.
